The AML-1 is most frequently used with a sound velocity sensor for beam steering in multibeam sonar applications. The same instrument can also be deployed on buoys and underwater observatories – platforms with a fixed depth – to collect CT data and calculate salinity and density. The probe is sometimes used with Turbidity or Pressure sensors. The AML-1 RT is designed for real-time data streaming, and has neither battery nor memory. A bulkhead connector brings power to the instrument and streams data back to the user.
